Here’s a thought apropos to this web site.
Is Joe Lieberman the most customer-focused candidate of our day?
Here’s a candidate who felt his customer/constituents – the voters of Connecticut – wanted him to be their senator. So, he ran as an independent and won by 8%.
If we truly have a representative democracy, wasn’t he being customer-focused by running despite his party’s misgivings?
He listened to his customers… determined they wanted him despite his party’s vote in the primary, and won re-election.
To paraphrase John Lennon, “Imagine there’s no political parties…”

(and, as i am one of those that is mostly-politically-homeless — way left on personal rights issues, way right on fiscal issues — the “imagine there’s no political parties…” sentiment rings strongly here. :-))
